Los Angeles Election Night in Photos

On Tuesday morning, Angelenos made their way to the polls. On Tuesday night, the candidates celebrated the end of a long race.

Councilman Eric Garcetti will be the next mayor of Los Angeles.

But the race for mayor was too close to call when City Controller Wendy Greuel took to the stage at Exchange Los Angeles, the former stock trading house turned swanky night club on Spring Street in Downtown.

Supporters of Councilman Eric Garcetti flocked to the cavernous Hollywood Palladium where they were decked out in style and brimming with confidence.

Greuel sounded a defiant tone as her supporters cheered her on stage. She touted her endorsements from top-flight politicians, unions and business groups. When she took the stage, less than a percentage point separated the candidates in early returns.

Garcetti voiced confidence as his lead started to grow over Greuel when he greeted the audience about half an hour later in Hollywood.

Angelenos voted on citywide races and three measures that would help determine the future medicinal marijuana shops in the city.
